BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER… Who’s Next? YG to Reveal First Member of New Girl Group on May 28
[마이데일리=이승길 기자] The first member of YG’s next rookie girl group, following in the footsteps of BLACKPINK and BABYMONSTER, will finally be unveiled at midnight on May 28.
On May 27 at noon, YG Entertainment launched a release countdown on its official blog, announcing the news. The project is titled “YG NEXT MONSTER.” This marks the moment when hints about the identity of the members, who will fully inherit YG’s identity, are finally revealed.
There is massive anticipation among global music fans. Executive Producer YANG HYUN SUK himself previously stated, “Both a boy group and a girl group are currently preparing for debut,” revealing YG’s rookie launch plans for the first time. Especially notable is that the girl group has already finalized its four-member lineup early on, demonstrating YG’s strong intention to launch swiftly, surprising everyone.
As the starting point, YG will sequentially release practice videos of the four members. On this, Executive Director YANG HYUN SUK hinted, “I hope you’ll evaluate them based purely on their abilities.” Just like BABYMONSTER captured the hearts of music fans by pre-releasing content before their debut, this shows YG’s strong confidence in the members.
Above all, as this marks the rise of the next group following BLACKPINK, who has become a top-tier global artist, and BABYMONSTER, who is solidifying their position as a powerhouse of live performance, fans are laser-focused on which member will be the first to step into the spotlight.
Meanwhile, YG recently announced a new master plan to strengthen the activities of its artists. This includes BLACKPINK’s new song release and large-scale world tour, BABYMONSTER and TREASURE’s upcoming album releases, and accelerating the launch of new rookies, all part of YG’s strategy to expand its intellectual property.
