YG Unveils Master Plan… BLACKPINK’s New Song to New Rookie Group Reveals
[OSEN=지민경 기자] ANG HYUN SUK, Executive Producer of YG, has revealed YG’s ambitious new master plan, strengthening the activities of artists like BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, and TREASURE, while accelerating the launch of new rookies.
On May 26, YG Entertainment posted “BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, AND UPCOMING ROOKIES | YG ANNOUNCEMENT” on its official social media, the first interview video of YANG HYUN SUK this year, packed with YG’s blueprint for the second half of 2025.
Appearing for the first time in seven months, YANG HYUN SUK thrilled global music fans by announcing that BLACKPINK will soon release a new song. BLACKPINK’s last release was their full album [BORN PINK], which dropped on September 16, 2022, marking about 2 years and 8 months since their last new track.
BABYMONSTER is also preparing for a packed schedule. Starting with a pre-release single on July 1, followed by a second single in September, and then a mini album on October 1, they’re set for nonstop activity. The pre-release single, titled “HOT SAUCE,” marks their first new song in about eight months since their full album [DIRP] released on November 1, 2024.
YANG HYUN SUK shared, “‘HOT SAUCE’ is a hip-hop track reminiscent of the mid-to-late 1980s. It’s incredibly addictive, and we’re releasing it like a gift, hoping everyone can enjoy the summer. We wondered, ‘What would it feel like for BABYMONSTER, with an average age in their teens, to sing a genre from the early days of hip-hop, 40 years ago?’ We’re very pleased with the results.”
TREASURE will also make a comeback with a new mini album on September 1. YANG HYUN SUK stated, “We will do our utmost to support TREASURE so they can release at least two albums every year and maintain continuous engagement with their fans.” Following the comeback, TREASURE is set to embark on a new world tour starting in October.
Beyond the artist schedules, YANG HYUN SUK surprised music fans by unveiling, for the first time, the lineup of YG trainees and the company’s rookie launch plans, which had been kept under wraps until now.
YANG HYUN SUK revealed, “Currently, YG has two boy groups and two girl groups preparing for debut. I especially want to make sure we launch a new boy group next year.” He also noted that among the upcoming rookie girl groups, one 4-member team is already finalized and is something he hopes to launch as soon as possible.
Starting May 28, YG will begin sequentially revealing practice videos of the four members. YANG HYUN SUK explained that just like with BABYMONSTER before their debut, these practice clips will be released in advance: “I hope you’ll evaluate their skills just as they are, as you see them, as you hear them.”
However, since YANG HYUN SUK expressed a desire to focus more intensely on BABYMONSTER’s growth until the end of next year, it is anticipated that the official debut of YG’s new girl group will happen afterward.
With BLACKPINK’s imminent new release and massive world tour kicking off July 5, BABYMONSTER’s July single and October mini album, TREASURE’s September 1 mini album and October world tour, YG is set for one of its busiest halves ever.
At the end of the interview, YANG HYUN SUK emphasized that YG has significantly transformed and advanced its internal systems over the past year. He stated that accelerating rookie debuts and expanding IP is now the company’s top priority, promising, “From the second half of this year, we will show you the upgraded YG system.”
As the interview concluded, a caption appeared on screen: “THE FIRST MEMBER OF YG’S NEXT GIRL GROUP. STAY TUNED.” With YANG HYUN SUK expressing such strong confidence, global music fans are already turning their attention to May 28, when the first member of the upcoming 4-member girl group will finally be unveiled.
